This year, 2013, Muslims in the UK practice fasting during Ramadhan in the summer, as they did last year. This Ramadhan, the holy month for Muslims, we are fasting for 18 – 19 hours a day. This summer in the UK is hotter than last year. To maintain our health during this hot Ramadhan, consuming more fruits is one of good tips.
Herewith I share a simple fruit salad to be served in pre-fast meal (suhoor) or fast-breaking meal (iftar).
Simple Fruit Salad
(servings : 5 portions)
1 bowl of chopped melon or cantaloupe
1 bowl of red seedless grape
1 cup of blueberries
1 bowl of chopped doughnut peach
2 table spoons of clear honey
2 table spoons of lemon juice
- In a big bowl, mix together clear honey and lemon juice.
- Put all of the fruits in the bowl, and combine with honey and lemon juice mixture. This healthy fruit salad is ready to be served.
Note : the fruits in this recipe can be substituted with any kind of fruits, preferably the local fruits.
